Signing in with Google or Microsoft
You can sign in to EngageCycle with your Google or Microsoft work account instead of typing your password. Two-step verification is still asked for every time, the same as with a password.
Before you start: these buttons appear only when EngageCycle has them turned on. If you don't see Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft on the sign-in page, sign in with your email and password.
Connect your account
You connect Google or Microsoft once, from your own account page, while you're signed in.
- Click your name in the top right, then Your account.
- Under Signing in, enter Your password. (If your login has no password, there's no box. Instead, you first confirm it's you with the Google or Microsoft account you already sign in with, then go on to the one you're connecting.)
- Click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, and sign in to that account.
You're back on Your account, with "Connected. You can sign in with Google now." (or Microsoft), and Signing in lists the account as connected. From then on, Continue with Google (or Microsoft) on the sign-in page signs you in, followed by your two-step code.
We never connect an account just because its email matches yours. Only the account you sign in to here is connected, and only to you.
You can connect one Google account and one Microsoft account. Connecting never replaces one that's already connected: to use a different Google account, Disconnect the old one first (see below), then connect the new one.
- On the sign-in page, click Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft.
- Sign in to that account if it asks.
- Enter the code from your authenticator app.
If the account isn't connected to a login yet, you see "Sign in with your password, then connect it from your account page. New to EngageCycle? Ask your business's owner for an invite." Sign in with your password once and connect it as above.
Starting with an invite
If someone invited you to EngageCycle, the invite page can set you up without a password:
- A business invite: fill in your business details, then click Continue with Google (or Microsoft) instead of choosing a password. Use the account for the address the invite was sent to. If you already have an EngageCycle login, the invite asks for its password instead, and you can connect Google or Microsoft from Your account afterward.
- An invite to join a team: on the page from the emailed link, click Continue with Google (or Microsoft) under Save password.
Then you set up two-step verification, as everyone does.
Self-serve signup works the same way: on Start free, fill in your business and name, then click Continue with Google (or Microsoft). It stands in for the emailed link, since Google or Microsoft has already confirmed your address. You go straight to Set up your business: fill it in, then click Continue with Google (or Microsoft) once more instead of choosing a password.
Backup codes and a new phone without a password
If you set up with Google or Microsoft and never chose a password, Your account asks you to confirm it's you with that account instead of a password:
- Under Two-step verification, find New backup codes or New phone or authenticator app.
- Click Continue with Google (or Microsoft) and sign in to the account you use for EngageCycle.
You come back to your new backup codes, or to setting up the new app. Another Google or Microsoft account won't work, and the confirmation lasts 5 minutes.
If signing in with Google or Microsoft has been turned off, the page says so. Choose a password with Forgot your password? on the sign-in page, then come back.
Disconnect
On Your account, under Signing in, click Disconnect next to the account. You sign in with your email and password from then on.
You can only disconnect while you have a password. If you set up with Google or Microsoft and never chose one, use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page first.
Good to know
- Owners see a Google or Microsoft tag next to anyone on the Users page who signs in that way.
- EngageCycle keeps no Google or Microsoft passwords or access, only which account is connected to your login.
- Connecting and disconnecting are listed in Staff activity.
